A hotelier since 1995, Calin Ile has been very involved in promoting tourism in Romania to make it a priority industry of the national economy.
Calin Ile graduated from the Faculty of Tourism of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies in 1995. He also attended the Course for International Hotel Managers by Cornell University and EHMI and other international tourism courses at the Hotel School den Hauge.
In 2011, HTB Hospitality Forum awarded him the title of 'Hotelier of the Year'.
Since 2015, Calin has been the President of the FHIR - the Romanian Hotel Industry Federation - and in 2020, he was named the General Manager of the Ibis Hotel in Timisoara.
As President of the FIHR, Calin has supported several campaigns promoting tourism - including projects like Romania in my heart, Repatriot Tourism or Romania promoted at BBC - and campaigns to help the education of the labor force in tourism through the Association of Tourism High Schools in Romania.
In 2020, he was one of the founders of Alliance for Tourism also known as APT, an approach meant to unite Romania's hospitality industry. APT produced the SOS Romanian Tourism document early in the pandemic, which outlined ten short-term solutions and fifty medium and long-term solutions for the industry.
Calin is also a board member of the Concordia Employers' Confederation, one of the most important employers' organizations for social dialogue.
He is an active supporter of sustainable tourism. He has been in charge of the CSR branch at Accor Hotel Group in Romania for three years. He supported causes such as the Planet for the Planet project, through which 2.5 million trees were planted in the forests of Transylvania.
